ITI’S
There are 280 recognized
private ITI’s in the State. They are also affiliated to NCVT , New
Delhi, through the State Directorate. The list of the recognized ITI’s
and the sanctioned intake in each appropriate trade is available in the
Head Office (Bangalore) and Divisional Offices (located at Bangalore,
Gulbarga, Hubli and Mysore). The candidates are required to ensure that
the ITI/Trade to which they seek admission has been affiliated to NCVT so
as to avoid disqualification for admission to All India Trade Tests at the
end of their training. Trainees of private ITI’s are not paid stipend or
scholarship and are not entitled to any other financial assistance that
are extended to Govt. ITI trainees.
The Department under the aeiges of NCVT, New Delhi, carries out All
India Trade Test to all the eligible trainees of Govt. as well as Pvt.
ITI’s and awards National Trade Certificates (NTC) to the successful
trainees. Starting
of ITI’s by Private Organizations:
ITI’s may be started only by registered, well-established private
organizations after making all the necessary arrangements for staff,
building (class rooms and workshops etc.,) and equipment as per the norms
prescribed by NCVT. No provisional permission is granted for starting the
ITI’s. They are required to seek and obtain permanent affiliation of
NCVT before the candidates are admitted to the proposed ITI.
The
application for affiliation and standards and norms are provided in
Annexure III of Appendix XIX of the Training Manual for ITI’s/ITC’s
prescribed by the DGE&T, New Delhi. When
to apply?
Notification inviting application for the affiliation of ITI’s is
normally published in the month of August/Sept. The last date for
receiving the completed applications along with a non-refundable
affiliation fee of RS.10,000/-per unit is 31st of Dec. Late applications
will however be received upto 10th Jan. with a penal fee of RS.100/-. How
is affiliation granted?
After the scrutiny of application, the Department will arrange to
get the proposed ITI inspected by the Standing Committee for affiliation
during May, June & July. The reports of the Standing Committee will be
sent to DGE&T. The concerned ITI will be permitted to admit the
candidates and conduct the training programmes as per NCVT standards and
norms, on the basis of the recommendations of the Standing Committee and
approval by the DGE&T, New Delhi. Inspection
of private ITI’s:
All the ITI’s (including
Private ITI’s) are periodically inspected by the officers of the
Department to ensure that the standard and quality of training is
maintained. Each affiliated ITI is required to pay an amount of RS.500/-
as inspection fee per year to the State Directorate. For more details, the

In addition to the above said inspection, every year, joint
inspections of ITI’s by the Government of India representatives and
Departmnet of Employment & Training representatives are being carried
out. Grant-in-aid
to Private ITI’s:-
As
per Govt. Order No: LD 45 ETI 91 Dt: 15-11-97, eligible staff of Pvt.
ITI’s as per Grant-in-aid code have been sanctioned 75% of salary grants
w.e.f. 1-11-1997. As on 21-7-2001, 1299 staff of 114 ITI’s are availing this benefit.
There is no Govt. quota in such aided ITI’s in the admission.
However the admission is made to the aided units as per Govt.
roster system as is done in Govt. ITI’s except for 20% reservation under
