SPECIAL
TRAINING SCHEMES Apart
from the above institutional and statutory vocational training schemes, the
Department is conducting many special training programmes in ITI’s with the
objective of improving quality of industrial production and promoting
self-employment among the youth. A brief account of these schemes is given
below: 1.
Motor Driving Training Scheme (MDTS): Location: Motor
Driving training schools have been started as adjuncts to ITI, Tumkur Road,
Bangalore-22 and ITI, Hubli. Eligibility
for admission: Candidate
must have passed VII standard & must have registered in the employment
exchanges for at least 1 year. Duration
of training, Test & Certification: The
training is for a period of 2 months. Emphasis is on safety rules and economy.
At the end of satisfactory training, driving test is conducted with the
assistance of Road Transport authorities and the successful candidates are
awarded with certificate of training and driving license. For

Advanced Vocational Training System (AVTS): Location: AVTS
is located at ITI, Hosur Road, Bangalore –29 & ITI, Hubli. Short-term
training programmes are conducted for the benefit of Industrial workers. Courses
offered:
Training is imparted in advanced skills in the areas like : 1.
Metrology and Inspection 2.
Indian Standards & Reading of Engineering Drawing 3.
Electronic & Electrical maintenance 4.
Tool & Die making 5.
ISO Reading of Engineering
Drawing 6.
Induction to Engineering Tech 7.
Hydraulics & Pneumatics Controls 8.
Machine Tool Maintenance 9.
Mechanical Maintenance 10.
Advanced Welding
Besides, tailor made courses are also conducted for various
establishments. Selection,
Course fee & Certification etc. 3.
Hi-Tech Training Programme: For
the purpose of training the industrial workers in advanced skills, Hi-Tech
Training programme has been started under the World Bank Aided Vocational
Training Project. Location: Hi-Tech
training programme is conducted at ITI, Peenya, Bangalore-22. Courses
offered and duration: The
training is imparted in the following areas.
The
duration of the course varies from 4 to 6 weeks. Selection,
Course fee & Certification etc. 4.Tribal-area
Sub Plan - Training programme for tribal people: Scheme
and its objectives: Tribal
men and women living in the tribal districts of Chikmagalore, Mysore, Kodagu and
Dakshina Kannada are offered vocational training for 1 year in the trades of
carpentry and tailoring respectively. The objective of the training scheme is to
impart necessary skill in the trade to enable them to take up self-employment.
Candidates are paid a monthly stipend of RS.500/- and their parents are given a
subsistence allowance of Rs.100/-p.m. At the end of training the candidates are
awarded certificate along with Tool Kit and Sewing machine. For

5.
Special Component Plan( SCP): Apart from statutory 15% reservation, additional 20% of intake capacity is earmarked for SC candidates in the Government ITI’s under this scheme. All the SC candidates in the Government ITI’s are paid a stipend of Rs. 150 per month per trainee and Rs. 100 per month per trainee towards materials & supplies.
